TOUR PACKAGES - 5 Days/4 Nights SUMBA Overland

Day 01
Upon your arrival at Tambulaka airport in West Sumba you will be welcomed by our local representative, who will transfer you to your hotel Newa Sumba Resort for overnight.

Day 02
After breakfast we drive up to Kodi in West Sumba, where we visit the unique Bondo Kodi, Pronabaroro and Rangga Baki villages, where the traditional thatched roofs are up to 12 meters high. All these villages still have megalithic tombs. At Ratenggaro we go for a beach walk and cross the river (if the water level permits) to Wainyapu, another engimatic village. In the afternoon we continue onwards to Waikabubak for overnight at the Mona Lisa Hotel.

Day 03
We enjoy a hearty breakfast at the hotel and head south to the Wanokaka district for gorgeous mountain scenery and a visit of the isolated ‘kampongs’ of Waigalli and Praigoli. Here houses are decorated with horns of huge buffaloes and white-headed brahminy kites circle the sky. Close by we bear witness to Watu Kajiwa, an ancient tomb. Continue to Lamboya to see Kadenga, another splendid  traditional village with a terrific hilltop Pasola field. Finally onto nearby Pantai Marosi beach for total relaxation in an idyllic beach setting, before our return to Waikabubak and overnight at hotel Mona Lisa.

Day 04
After breakfast we visit the fascinating traditional villages of Tarung and Wetabar. If time permits we could make an optional stop at Algadri art shop, with its impressive collection of Sumba antiques, before striking out on a 137 km drive to Waingapu in East Sumba. En route we make stops at Pasunga and Waibakul in the Anakalang district. Here we will encounter the most impressive stone graves and traditional houses on the island. Our overnight is at Elvin or Merlin* Hotel.  

Day 05
We enjoy a hearty breakfast at the hotel and if time permits we visit Praliu and Kallu villages to see the process of the high-quality Ikat weaving East Sumba is renowned for. Finally our transfer to LBJ airport for our onward flight.
